Imagine a tablescape – yes, it is a real word – where the table is set with artful, decorative pieces for a social gathering. The ambience is joyful, upbeat and lively. Guests start streaming in and excitedly choose their seat of choice. The host gives a welcoming toast and the various drinks and meals are served.

As conversation is flowing and everyone is caught up in the moment; one guest seated next to the host asks: “did you find out who betrayed you?” The host quietly responds: “yes, it’s the one I ask if they want more wine.” The host interrupts a conversation a few seats away from him and asks a gentleman if he wants more wine.

How many times have we been betrayed? Would you invite the person who betrayed you to your party? Yet, this is what Jesus did during the last supper. He knew that one of His disciples would betray Him and He invited him nonetheless. (John 13:1-20)  This is a great example that has been set before us by Jesus Christ; however, it is one of the hardest to apply into our lives. May we humbly ask God for His grace to forgive our enemies.
